So now it really looks different! We had some rain delays last week and that was really frustrating, but we are making progress. Over the past week the clearing crew removed all the trees and brush that was cleared, Pat and Barbara came and staked out the corners of the house (of which Pat said there were something ridiculous like 35?), and the foundation has been dug. It is really quite amazing to see the huge piles of dirt that are left for the back filling and the outline of our basement back there. We were really nervous when the digging began. We crossed our fingers for a dry ground and so far our prayers have been answered. No unknown underground springs were uncovered in our digging. No other treasurers were discovered either which I have to admit is really disappointing to me. Mom found an old bottle opener and a tiny glass bottle that looks like an old insulin bottle. The excavator also pulled out a length of chain that was quite thick.
Tomorrow the concrete guys are coming to pour the footers for the house. All things being equal and weather cooperating (say your prayers and do your sun dances for us) they will then come back on Friday to pour the walls. That is crazy to me! We are working to get the house up, sealed, and roofed before the bad weather and then the inside can be worked on throughout the winter months.
Sorry for the delay in posting, there just wasn't a great deal to share. Now that things are moving, think good dry thoughts for us! Below are some more pictures.
