Cabinets, we got cabinets

Did you know that I shot a man in Reno once, just to watch him die? Oh wait, nevermind. Forget that. House stuff.

This is the kitchen and some of the cabinets. There is 59 inches between the cabinets. How big should the TV that goes there be?

On the other side of the kitchen is the cabinets where the sink will be. The biggest of the cabinets there on the right holds a couple of trash cans. The window ledge will hold plenty of tea animals, Miked made sure of that.

The mudroom is just about done, the floor anyway.

This is the quest shower.

This is the kids bathroom.

Kids bathroom, part 2.

Miked, hard at work in the kitchen.

Oh, and if anyone asks you, I have never been to Reno. Got it?

Getting there

The Big Ds continue to work hard on the house, while I allegedly help Mom babysit the Little Ds. In truth, though, I nap and stuff. Then I go out to the house and praise their work and come back and nap some more. It is a tough life I lead.

Let's see what they got done:

The lights above the kitchen island.

The eating area chandelier.

A doorknob or two or three.

Cabinets in the master bath.

More master bath stuff.

Wainscoting in the kids bath.

A tile guy is doing the guest bath ...

and my bathroom. The orange look is not permanent. It is just waterproofing before the tile goes on. It is white tile, despite Miked's threats to get salmon color.

These are my niches to put my shampoo, body wash, loofah ...

The floor is non-slip tiles. Oh, and awesome looking.

It's so cool.

Attic takes shape

Team DT is finishing up from the top down now. They are working on the wainscoting on the second floor now, but thw attic is ready now, and little Team DT is setting up the playroom.

First, there are carbon monoxide and fire alarms on all floors.

Emily cleaned up the attic and they got the puzzle floors.

Then they added Goof 2's basketball game and his air hockey table.

They use the border pieces as swords.

Apparently, they celebrated with something green.

Goof 1 made some pancakes to enjoy, too.

Headed to Sorrow's End

***SPOILER ALERT*****

When the small band of Elves known as the Wolfriders wanders through the barren desert where the trolls had left them for dead, Skywise, No. 2 Elf, spies mountains in the distance. As they gear up for their final trek through the heat, Cutter, the leader, tells them that they are heading to "sorrow's end." Now it isn't quite the same here at the DTs, but we are finishing up a bunch of stuff. They are anyway. I am just sitting around on my computer.

But here is what's going on:

Miked and Pete brought in the huge slabs of slate that will go around the fireplace.

They put up the side pieces (the thing in the middle under Miked's right hand).

Two of the upstairs bathrooms are tiled -- the master bath ...

And the kids bathroom.

See, both big D's worked hard on it. The floors still need grouting.

The slate floor for the mudroom also got laid. How cool is that?

Diligent D's at work.

The master craftsman does something really important while wearing his trend-setting earmuffs.

Outside, we started work on the driveway.

I will be glad to get this done because twice last week, I got caught in the rain while walking Claren around the block. The curbcut for the driveway will cut off some distance for my walks.

They cleared the drive area and set the forms for the curb part.

They also used some of the dirt to fill in some holes in the yard.

They also poured the concrete so that is where we stand now.

Another supercool ceiling fan.

And another supercool ceiling fan, this one on the back porch.

*****************SPOILER ALERT***********

When the Wolfriders got to the mountains, they found a village with other Elves that was really called Sorrow's End. They decided to raid it, rather than ask for help. But during the raid, Cutter falls for Leetah, daughter of the blind Sun-Toucher, who leads Sorrow's End. It is well worth a read and the Elfquest saga is online.

I have not figured out who I am or anything.

Barry does not cut off any fingers, tiling begins and more

I took my now-former boss through the house last week.

No one tell his wife, though, because seh will be jealous that he got to see it.

I told him they could both come back to see the progress, but it turns out that they might need to come back soon than expected: Miked and the DT crew have been burning the midnight oil.

Check it out.

I just decided this would make a good Gatorade ad -- Miked's empties.

Barry was pretty tickled with himself that Miked allowed him to do some unsupervised framing and wainscoting. It meant he got to operate dangerous power tools by himself.

Well, not by himself. Lynn was there to keep track of Barry's digits.

They did lots of work on my birthday even.

The flowers Mom planted are coming up.

Pete is putting up the ceiling fans. This is the one in the family/living/all-around awesome room.

These are the fancy push button power switches.

Again, the fan in the superduper room.

The lights are up in the hallway upstairs.

The bathroom floors upstairs are a tile masterpiece in progress.

This is the master bathroom masterpiece.

Emily added the switches for these bourgeoisie upstairs power switches. (My switches will be rockstar switches.)

She also put in the outlet covers, I believe.

And aren't these lights cool? They are somewhere in the house.

Super-cool!
