I sound like a big whiner. I know that we are making good progress. I also know that with all that is going on the world around us that I should not even think about complaining, but I do. Mostly to Miked and Mom, but obviously here too. I will try to be better. I am going to remember Sheri's phrase..."I can now say the house will be done this year. I couldn't say that last year." :)
So here's what's been happening and what's going to be going on the next week or so...
The stairs are in! This was so exciting for us. The kids were finally able to go up and see where their rooms will be and see the attic which will be the playroom. I am loving the fact that they are excited about the playroom, but I am also loving the fact that the toys can all be up there!
The house is almost all taped up. I think there might be a few random windows that need to have their flashing taped with the ZIP tape, but other than that we are good to go there. (A good thing, because more rain is expected this weekend. Seriously? More? I don't want to hear a word about the drought.)
The breezeway is finished. I love how it looks and how it connects the house and garage. (I know that sounds silly because what else would a breezeway do, but I love it!)
They did some rough grading and got rid of the big pile of dirt behind the garage. It looks really cool to see it flat. Give you more of an idea of what the yard will be like. During the grading I was also able to find another little glass bottle and a large piece of plate with a green design.
The doors are supposed to come in at the end of this week. Now I am a bit dubious about this because this is what we were told last week, so we shall see. That will make it look even more housey!
Roofing should go on next week. We chose our shingles. They are "Colonial Slate," a greyish color with some red flecks in it. I am thinking it will look good with a red house. We don't know the color of the metal roofs on the porches yet. Still waiting for some feedback from the architect.
Siding will go up after the roofing.
The HVAC guys are coming in the week after next.
The masons are coming then as well I think. Miked will have to confirm.
Plumbers will come after HVAC.
We will have a house. No, that's not it...we will have a home.

Why didn't I get a voice in the rook tile color? I wanted bright orange.
