And now back to our regularly scheduled program

See?  I told you all that Matt would be way funnier than I am.  Unfortunately, he also exaggerates a bit.  So the Amish did not in fact come out and finish the house in a day.

We were supposed to leave the Saturday before Christmas and head up to ME, but the snowstorm of all snowstorms for VA kept us right where we were until Monday.  The guys got the roof on the garage before the snow started Friday night.  It snowed all day on Saturday and when all was said and done we had about 20 inches.  Miked and I spent all Sunday shoveling out and Mom, Dad and Matt took care of the kids when they tired of playing outside.  THANK YOU!

Our guys did work all day in the cold and piled up snow on Christmas Eve.  They have most of the garage covered, but the seams all still need to be taped.  The breezeway will be framed next.  They also worked on finishing up some framing in the house that needed to be done.  Matt's space and bathroom are all finished now except for his closet.  There is also a hall closet that needs to be framed as well as a linen closet upstairs.

Speaking of stairs...our materials provider had to fire their stair manufacturer because the stair folks were trying to cut them out by going straight to customers.  As as result, we still do not have stairs.  I can't wait for the stairs so that the kids will be able to go up and see their new rooms and what will be the playroom.  Hopefully we will get some good answers at the site meeting on Tuesday morning.

Here are some pictures of the garage and the house where we stand at the moment...

  1. It is 2010 and there will be progress! There is one thing that you can say for sure. The house will be finished THIS YEAR! That is something you could not say last year.

  2. I sometimes wish that I'd seen plans, but then again, it's so interesting to drive by and see what has developed!
