It's Ours!

Well we did it! We all went to closing yesterday at 10am. Mom, Matt, Miked, and I went out to Fairfax and left Dad to take care of the Littles. (Thank you GT. They would not have had a good time at the settlement office and therefore neither would we!) We signed a gagillion papers. Then we signed some more. Mom made note of the fact that hers was the only signature that could actually be read.

We went to the settlement office expecting to be able to give them routing numbers and account numbers and that they would wire the monies to mom's account. We went expecting this because this is what 2 different people at the office told us to do. However, that was not the case. So when we left the office Miked went to our places to wire money and then to work. Mom, Matt, and I went to his bank to wire his funds, only to be told it would be a 40 minute wait to see a counselor who could wire the funds. So Matt and I got back in line and got a certified check instead. Then we took Matt to work and finally got home to relieve Dad. By this point Dad was a little stir crazy so he came with me to take the check back to the settlement office and this time the Littles stayed with Mom. (Thanks Mom!)

So now we can get going. As soon as our clearing and excavating guy finishes his current job he will start on ours. He thinks that he should be able to start mid week of this coming week. I can't wait to see it really start. One thing we should do before then is inform the mom's of the squatters that their fort in the woods is about to be demolished and if they want their office chair and lounger they should come retrieve them soon!
